-note- This is...a horrible photo of the painting. XD Please don't mind the uneven-ness of the light...and the painting is not straight.
Haha. 2 picture updates in one day?! It must be a miracle...or just me being spontaneous and having time to do it.
Well. This is a watercolour painting for my AP Studio concentration. The theme has to do with human emotion with animal motifs or something... XDD I don't even know my own theme...
The emotion/trait isn't very clear in this picture...it was supposed to be malicious or deceptive...the woman is a spider and she's trying to trick people to fall into her web, where she'll wrap them up and drain them of their bodily fluids. Her first pair of hands are held together, somewhat peacefully, and her second pair are held up...welcomingly?
I dunno. Interpret at will. The whole thing is horribly bright, and I'm not sure whether I should further darken the background.
Hahaha, your indirect flattery is making me blush. I could never get the hang of traditional watercolors, and you have that down to an art, pun intended. Not to mention that a half-spider lady is kickass under any circumstances, so this painting deserves every bit of praise it gets.
I don't think it's too bright - I find watercolours can easily look overdone if you try to darken them too much - I think the brightness is just right. The colours and textures are excellent too. However, her second (human) pair of arms feel a bit tacked on and strangely shaped, and the legs a little that way too. Spiders have quite flat front-abdomens, and the legs attach to the bottom half of them at like 4 and 8 o'clock, and are pretty thick where they attack relative to the body. And, I dunno, the arms just don't look like they have the backing or structure to support arms coming out near the bottom of her ribcage - higher up, just below her first pair seems much more likely. Don't get me wrong; this is really cool, I'm just trying to helpfully criticise.
